We do not personally breed our puppies, but our breeders have been associated with us for many years and breed specifically for us. Most of our breeders are in Gippsland and southern NSW.  Some are large full time breeders, others are dairy farmers who supplement their income with a few litters and others live in towns breeding an occasional litter. Having this close contact has been great as we have instigated educational programs regarding feeding, socialising, parasite control, vaccination and so on to ensure consistency and optimum health.

We sometimes have enquiries about our full time breeders and concerns about the care of these dogs.  We can assure you that all dogs and their puppies receive the best care.  For example, our largest breeder employs 8 staff who are with the dogs 7 days a week and these dogs love the companionship of their human carers and doggy friends.  They receive daily exercise and the bigger dogs get to play in a large area including swims in the 20 acre dam.  There is a 2 acre paddock the smaller ones play in and chase rabbit trails.  They are all fed a quality diet, wormed, microchipped, flea treated and vaccinated and clipped if long coated. They are social and friendly. In fact when Don Burke visited he commented that he had never seen such happy and well adjusted dogs at any breeders, and that dogs love an environment of companionship and human and canine association. You can read his comments on the Burke's Backyard website.  Today Tonight and The Sunday Program have both visited this property recently and report that the property exceeded their expectations and was well run and clean and that the dogs and puppies were happy, healthy and well cared for.  This professionalism gives good control over quality of care for puppies and parents.

All larger breeders are registered and checked regularly by local councils. They meet the regulations required by the government, local councils and the RSPCA.  We have found that the crosses we are breeding are rarely ending up in shelters and there are waiting lists for our older dogs.  This was our original aim : to breed types of dogs that will better suit families and it is working. While the RSPCA says they do not support the sale of pups in pet stores it is a far more regulated way to purchase a pet than online, through any breeder or through newspaper ads. It is totally incorrect to say these pups and their parents are not well treated. The regulations in place would not permit poor treatment and the welfare of our dogs and pups has always been the highest priority. All have roomy pens and kennels and open areas to play and rest.

Unfortunately there are minority groups who will never be happy with people owning pets. If you have any questions please fell free to call us.

We do not breed from unhealthy dogs - not only are we animal lovers it would be poor business practice to do so as all our dogs are health guaranteed.

Of course problems can arise in any living creature but we take the health of dogs seriously and breed for temperament and health, not looks for the show ring. Our prospective owners are almost always families and these are the most important issues for a good family pet. Our vets visit our breeders weekly and puppies are checked and vaccinated and microchipped in their own environment and we pick them up at 8 weeks.

When you check the prices of our pups, you will find they are cheaper than most, and certainly cheaper than registered breeders, despite the extra costs of staff, rent, GST, taxes, licences, etc. So why are our puppies cheaper? We realise some breeders charge exorbitant amounts for their puppies and we will never do that. We want our puppies go to their new homes quickly and with every support we can offer their new families.

At our store we have deliberately stayed small - we specialise in dog and puppy care, employing 2 veterinary nurses, a dog trainer, animal attendant and other fully trained staff.  Our aim is to provide information regarding health, temperament, dog behaviour, etc to new owners and give on going support.   We want your new pet to become an important member (the lowest member!!) of your family pack and are there to help you all the way.  We love that owners have bought their 2nd, 3rd or 4th pet from us and over 36 years enjoy a great relationship with our owners.
